Founding Memories

The memories that sparked the idea of forming J.Lynne Africa C.D.O.

Several years ago something happened, something that looking back at to that day led to the founding of this organisation.

It was around mid-day hours and the organization treasurer Janna King was driving when she saw a child alongside the road.

The little boy named Ben was walking home during school hours and we stopped to ask him why he was not in school.

He replied in his native language (kikuyu), that she had to be sent home because his mother had not paid the school fees (she could not afford it.)

A brighter day for Ben

We decided to take Ben back to school where we had a meeting with the head teacher, who later became the chairperson of our organisation.

The Treasurer of J.Lynne Africa C.D.O continued to make a donation of $200.00 (over Kes. 20,000) towards little Ben school fees and also his uniforms and shoes. The donation also benefited his older brother's school fees.

Our First donation to a Public Primary School

An additional $300.00 was donated for the meal program towards the Wendiga Primary School for 210 students.

The school during that time was also running out of food to feed the children for their lunch meals.  A donation of rice, beans, and oil was made to help with the food shortage.

The Spark that formed the Organisation

By the end of that day, the treasurer Janna Lynne King had decided for about the third time to form an organisation.

But due to previous frustrations and challenges with former organisations she hesitated for a while before committing to start an organisation focused on developing and helping underprivileged children and communities. Something she had aspired to do to benefit these communities.

If the treasurer had given up on the second try, Janna Lynne Africa CDO would not exist today.

A Call for Help

Many children at Wendiga Primary and other Public Schools are affected by poverty conditions and their parents cannot afford school fees and uniforms.

Primary school children are at the beginning of their education and it is important to ensure that they can be afforded a great start in education.  A great beginning sets the foundation for a favourable future for children. A great educational start affords children a brighter future with many possibilities.

Support Children through Education.

After assessing the school, the treasurer noticed the degree of lack that the children experienced.

  1. Lacked a playground area.
  2. Lack of a dining hall.
  3. Inadequate chalkboards and desks.
  4. Inadequate and lack of sustainable clean water, and electricity along with many other things.

Together we can Help Children achieve greater things

Please join our cause to help uplift Wendiga Primary School out of poverty conditions, giving the children access to a better educational start. A donor can choose to sponsor a child like little Ben and his brother or donate towards the whole school.

There are many single parents especially mothers and families in poverty that struggle to get a meal in a day let alone afford paying for their children's education.
