Unga, Sugar, Oil and Grocery bags Giveaway for the residents of Kangemi slums.
About the Project
On April 28th, 2024 J.Lynne Africa C.D.O was requested by the donor to help and participate in a food giveaway at Kangemi Slums of Nairobi.
The fundraising for the $12,000.00 food giveaway was raised through a GoFundMe campaign coordinated by China Mac TV.
The Food Giveaway
Thousands of residents showed up for the food giveaway expecting to get unga, flour, sugar, and oil grocery bags.
There were also custom goody bags for the children which included juices, a bag of chips, candy, and cookies.
Trapflix TV team members also showed up for support to help with the giveaway.
This was a challenging giveaway due to the high number of residents and the area chosen for the giveaway also lacked the local security needed for the staff and crowd control.
Activities of the Giveaway
After the giveaway, there were free hot meals afforded to over 500 people of those who did not receive a giveaway bag.
Mothers with children and the elderly were served first due to the large crowds. It took three hours to bag up all the food from the warehouse for the giveaway.
Two truckloads full of food were driven to Kangemi slums along with the participants to help with the giveaway.
The giveaway lasted the whole day due to overcrowding of the residents of Kangemi slums and lack of enough security personnel to help coordinate the crowd.
The challenges
Many people in the Kangemi slums struggle on a daily basis because of poverty cannot afford food and medicine for their families.
Children and elderly people are heavily affected by lack of resources.
Please join our cause to continue to help uplift the Kangemi slums of Nairobi and bring hope.
We will continue to support the communities of the Kangemi slums bringing resources and infrastructural development to the people.
